ATMEX Adventure Expo in Veracruz a Huge Success

ATMEX CatemacoWe Are One Travel and Amigo Trails owner Yolonda Norman de Fernandez, was recently at the  1st annual ATMEX Adventure Tourism Summit and was thrilled with the turn out and unexpected success that this first of its kind expo brought to Mexico. This expo highlighted the wonderful opportunities for adventure tourism in Mexico and was held at the World Trade Convention Center in Boca del Rio, Veracruz in Veracruz State.

Mexico Verde TentMore than 30 exhibitors from 17 different Mexican States were on hand to talk about their own adventure activities and of course Veracruz State, as the undisputed mecca of adventure tourism in Mexico, had a wonderful showing of adventure companies in its booth. It was an event to remember.

Zipline startYolonda was invited to go along on one of the 3 pre-summit adventure trips and she had an incredible experience as she raced along zip-lines through the canopy of the forest, road bikes along dusty roads with awesome river views and rafted down the class III Rio Pescado just outside of Jalcomulco, about an hour and a half drive from Boca del Rio. Veracruz has other adventure opportunties as well such as; snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding, mountain climbing and so much more.ATMEX Catemaco

The pre-adventure tour in Catemaco was also a hit as people were set up into different groups to go on various adventures. Yolonda did the kayaking and monkey island trip while others chose to visit the enigmatic village of Nanciyaga. Both were amazing journeys!

ATMEX CatemacoThe Opening Ceremony was held in Catemaco on the lake and was beautifully designed and set up. The delegates, locals from the area selling their crafts, the musicians, the guests were all a part of the Magic that is Mexico and the memory of it all will live on in our hearts.

Secretary of Tourism Gloria Guevara and YolondaThe ATMEX convention itself included 4 engaging guest speakers and many useful breakout sessions that made learning more about Mexico fun as well as some great tips for helping one’s business to grow and be more prosperous.

We wish to thank the ATTA, the Veracruz Tourism Board and the Mexico Tourism Board for hosting our companies and helping us to see Mexico in a new and brighter light. Viva Mexico!
