Oteviachi and Train Line Package
You'll start out today by getting yourself to Los Mochis airport. From there,
we'll pick you up and transfer you to the colonial village of El Fuerte, just 1.5
hours away. ** Once in El fuerte, you'll be dropped off at your hotel where
you can relax a bit or take a self-guided walk around town. Time allowing,
you'll be taken on a River Tour to see some of the remarkable birds in the
area such as the Squirrel Cuckoo, Mot Mot and the Trogan as well as many
more. Enjoy dinner tonight at your hotel.
Day 1: (D)
Day 2: (B)(L)(D)
Have breakfast this morning and then pack up and meet your guide at 9am
in the Lobby to start your hike. You'll leave your luggage at the Mirador Hotel
so take only your day pack with you as it is all you'll need for the next day.
You'll start out with your bilingual guide, hiking along the rim of the canyon
and continue southward along the edge. You'll be given snacks for the road
and lunch will be served at your campsite overlooking Urique Canyon. This
trip allows for a bit more style and service as we are above the canyons
overlooking them instead of at the bottom. Your lunch will be a discada
(Mexican style stir-fry), prepared on site and served at a table with
tablecloth, wine, proper dinnerware, etc... You can eat lunch as you gaze upon
a fantastic view. Most unforgettable. Today after lunch you'll hike down a bit
more to get to the waterfall pools where you can swim (depends on weather
of course) and check out the caves. Camp-out tonight and enjoy the
tranquility of the Copper Canyon as the stars twinkle overhead.
Day 3: (B)(L)(D)
Breakfast is served at your hotel and then you'll be transferred to Chihuahua
by private vehicle. Upon arrival in Chihuahua, you'll be taken to Ricky's Tacos,
a local favorite, for lunch. This restaurant has been around for ages and is
considered a local "institution". There is a salsa bar and the tacos are just
incredible. Afterwards, you'll be dropped of at the Holiday Inn Suites Hotel in
the downtown area to get checked in and relax a bit. This hotel has both
indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a jacuzzi and sauna, which will help
you to relax after your camping and hiking. Your City Tour guide will meet you
at the hotel at 3pm to take you on a guided tour around the city. You'll see
some of the local attractions such as Quinta Gameros, Pancho Villa's House
and the main Cathedral. Dinner is on your own today to give you a chance to
try out the local flavors and choose your own restaurant. We suggest you try
El Retablo Restaurant a few miles from downtown, or Casa de Los Milagros
just a few blocks behind the main cathedral. Don't forget you have a
complimentary Happy Hour at the Holiday Inn, Monday - Friday from 6pm to
7:30pm too, so plan dinner around this.
After breakfast today, you'll be transported back to the Mirador Hotel. Lunch
and Dinner will be served here and you should arrive by about noon. You'll
have the rest of the day on your own to walk out and visit "Balancing Rock",
view the "Ladder", take a horseback ride (organized directly by the hotel) or
just relax and enjoy your room and surroundings.

Breakfast will be early today, 7am, at your hotel, in order to get you to the
train by 8am. This train line is one of the more famous in the world. The
engineering in itself is a masterpiece. You'll pass through dozens of tunnels
and go over about too many bridges to count on your way to the Mirador
Hotel at Posada Barrancas, near Divisadero. Lunch is served on the train
today and you will spend the night tonight in this great hotel overlooking the
junction of Copper, Tararecua and Urique Canyons. All rooms have a balcony
that overlooks the canyon so you are guaranteed a great view. When you
check in, be sure to find out what time you need to be seated in the dining
room for dinner tonight and breakfast tomorrow.

the airport in time for your flight home.

tour for you and transfer to the airport afterwards. Most international flights,
however, leave before noon.
